The Elephant HR Advisors Conference 2020

Wgtn 3+4 Sept | Auck 17+18 Sept

Come and hear the best presenters, network and share ideas and learn how to make your HR career simply brilliant.

At Elephant we know being an HR Advisor is one of the hardest roles – you are still building your HR skills but need to be credible to managers you’re advising. Back in 2014 we launched the first HR Advisors Conference, and now run this every year around the world.

The feedback we’ve had from the hundreds of HR people who have attended has been amazing. HRA’s have said:

  • They love meeting others at their level to network and discuss issues with
  • They love the practical tools and techniques that they can use – no strategic mumbo-jumbo, just real case studies and real ideas
  • They love checking what they’re doing is right and getting new ideas on how to deliver differently
  • They leave inspired to be a brilliant HR person!

The agenda

Our 2020 presenter line up

Claire O’Connell, Social Media Expert

Claire is one of the most experienced social media minds in NZ. She began her social media career with Myspace in 2006 in Sydney before going on to work at both Bebo and Facebook in London before returning to NZ in 2013 to run Facebook’s advertising operations here. Claire started The Classroom in order to pass on all the knowledge and experience she has gained in social media.

Angela Evans, Partner, Langton Hudson Butcher

Angela is Partner at LangtonHudsonButcher, who specialise in employment law. She has wide commercial and litigation experience across a range of matters. She can advise on all employment law issues and has appeared in the Employment Relations Authority, District Court and High Court. Angela is always one of our most popular presenters, and also gives excellent employment law advice!

Nikki Peck, HR and Learning Curator, Elephant

Nikki Peck has over 20 years of generalist HR experience working in diverse sectors such as health, engineering, utilities, retail and not-for-profit. Nikki is a respected HR consultant and facilitator and is highly sought after by our Elephant clients. A core focus for Nikki when working with clients is “lets make this less complicated, be genuine and have some fun while we do it”.

June Hardacre, Senior Associate, MinterEllison

Ainsley Benefield, HR Director, Hive Consulting

Kirsti Grant, People & Culture Director, Auror

June is a Senior Associate in the Auckland employment department and has broad experience in all aspects of both New Zealand employment and health and safety law. June is also instructed by clients to advise on and lead employee investigations regarding acceptable conduct, bullying, and harassment. June regularly attends mediation for her clients and has been involved in litigation at all levels of the NZ court system. June has significant experience in acting for both private and listed companies in the financial services, transport, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
Ainsley Benefield spent much of her career working as an employment lawyer in Wellington, Dublin, and London including in-house at a global company going through a significant period of HR issues and transformation.  When returning to NZ, Ainsley worked as an HR consultant and founded HR consultancy Hive.
This experience has meant Ainsley has worked with a variety of employers across most industries around the world. She is also a qualified mediator and specialist in independent reviews and investigations.
Kirsti’s background includes roles as HR and Talent Director at Vend, CEO and Founder of Populate, and now Head of People Experience at Vend. She says “Something I believe is truly transformational in a company is a clear strategy, a strong set of values or guiding principles (where there are countless stories of them being more than just words on the wall) to align with and work to, huge amounts of trust in one another, honest communication and a strong aptitude for adapting to and dealing with change. It sounds so simple, in a paragraph but it’s surprisingly rare and the companies who get all of these right are the ones that have strong, natural company cultures and are built for long term high performance.”

Mere King, Senior Associate, BuddleFindlay

Mere specialises in employment, industrial relations and health and safety as well as dispute resolution and litigation.
In the last eight years she has focused her practice on employment law and has gained wide recognition for her skills in this field.  She has particular expertise in personal grievances, restructures and disciplinary matters. Mere provides client focused practical advice to a wide variety of clients. Her timely involvement at the outset of issues ensures successful resolution outside of formal employment disputes processes.

Jann Watt-Drake, Career Strategist, De Novo

Jann Watt-Drake is passionate about helping people find their career mojo. Personal branding is a key to helping people focus on the positives in their lives, and Jann’s personal mission is to be catalyst for making work meaningful and fun.

Jann has a reputation of being a forward thinker, yet always practical, quickly tapping in to the barriers that are holding people back and giving them the tools and confidence to achieve their career goals.
